) First of all, finding the models' stock. Clean it, removing the background and picture noise. Don't use the eraser! Paint with black on a mask. You can "undo" painting with white on the mask 
Each picture is saved in a single file, separately. Each image is contained in a layer group, along with a levels adjustment layer to normalize values. The mask is moved to the whole layer group. Then, the background stock is found. Same process as above. Elements are placed (inserted as smart objects) and arranged in the frame. This lets me change the original file and every other picture that "includes" it reflects the change. Adjust several pictures' levels, colors, etc. By changing the original and saving, the final image is updated. Paint the wings on a smart object. Save the image and "place" it into another image for the postproduction stage. Add a vignette, adjust overall toning (photo filter), add chromatic aberration (lens correction) and a bit of noise, to add some realism to the picture. Lacking these makes the picture look somewhat "fake".

Me encantas las alas, por cierto. Hay poca gente que las haga bien, y tu eres una de esas pocas personas 
La verdad es que me ha llevado más tiempo seleccionar los stocks que limpiarlos, jajaja.
Tal vez haya cogido suficiente práctica 
Y cabo de darme cuanta que además las alas son pintadas! que bonitas! a mi nunca me han salido. aunque no es que me haya esforzado mucho en ello, porque no tengo mucha paciencia... xD
Hacía muchísimo tiempo que no tocaba el fotomontaje. A ver si lo hago más a menudo
